You can't really go wrong with Shrek at a Halloween party that's movie themed. This green ogre became a favorite with guys and girls alike... he's funny, cute and he always gets the girl.

2. Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Carribbean

When Pirates of the Carribbean was released, every girl fell in love with Johnny Depp - and every guy idolized his unique way of making us laugh and fighting off pirate ghosts.

3. The Godfather

The most famous mobster movie of all time - it's a classic, and no movie themed Halloween party would be complete without a little godfather action.

4. Harry Potter's Dementor

One of my personal favorite movies, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the dementor costume promises to scare all those who are around you. If you're looking for a way to freak people out, soul sucking demetors are definetely the way to go.

5. Wolverine from the X Men

Wolverine is a guy that everyone knows. The X Men movies and comics are so popular, we just had to include Wolverine on our top list of cool costumes. He's everything a girl could want: tall, dark, handsome, brooding, and everything a guy can admire... strong, smart and has metal claws. You really can't go wrong with this one.

6. The Nightmare Before Christmas' Jack Skellington

Ahh... Jack. What started out as a kid's movie rapidly became a cult classic. Everyone from Jack Osbourne to his sister Kelly loves this movie, and Jack Skellington is now a character synonymous with Halloween.

7. Peter Pan's Captain Hook

Captain Hook was the bane of Peter Pan's existance. But there was something so cool about him. He was a vilian who was never really right in his head, he always seemed a little off, and for that, we love him.

8. Superman

Superman was a given for this list. It would be almost sacreligous to have a movie themed Halloween party and not include the most beloved superhero of all time. And with the passing of Christopher Reeve, the original Superman, this costume is a tribute and a great way to honor a great man, and one kick butt comic book character.

9. Elvis

Okay, so Elvis isn't really best known for anything other than the hip swivelling and snarling. But back in the day, Mr. Presley was the king of music and film, so get all dolled up in his most famous jumpsuit and shake it like a Polariod, baby!

10. John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever

Second only to Grease, Saturday Night Fever was a movie that signififed the birth of one of film's greatest stars : John Travolta. Channel some Danny Zucko in this retro disco suit and get on the dance floor.
