These Halloween titles are G, PG, or NR (the movies which are not rated were all made for children) ; however, many of these movies still have scenes that may be frightening for very young children. Roo's new pal, Lumpy, joins Pooh and his friends for Halloween in the 100 Acre Wood. Halloween is scarier than ever after Tigger warns his friends about the mysterious Gobloon, who'll turn you into a Jaggedy Lantern if he catches you. But, if they catch him first they get to make a wish. Roo and Lumpy set out to catch the dreaded Gobloon, and end up learning what it means to be a real friend. Rated G. It just wouldn't be Halloween without joining Charlie Brown and the gang for the classic tale of the Great Pumpkin. Determined to prove the legend is real, Linus spends the night in a pumpkin patch waiting for the appearance of the mysterious Great Pumpkin. Charles Schultz's subtle satire plays out as Linus and Sally sit in the pumpkin patch, and the rest of the gang celebrates Halloween in the usual traditions. Not Rated. Eglantine Price's important training to become a witch is interrupted when she is asked to care for three orphans. Set during World War II, the story follows Eglantine and the children as they set out on a magical adventure to find a missing page from the old book her teacher had used to create his lessons. Rated G. This Disney DVD contains two cartoon shorts based on the classic tales, "The Wind in the Willows" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." The latter telling is great for Halloween, but the ending will definitely spook young children. The DVD also contains the Halloween short, "Lonesome Ghosts," featuring Mickey, Donald and Goofy. Rated G. In a world where each holiday has its own town, Jack Skellington embarks on a search for something more than the dreariness that Halloween Town offers. Inspired by his discovery of Christmas Town, Jack tries to bring a little Christmas spirit back home. Some of the characters may be scary to very young children. Rated PG for some scary images.
The Sanderson Sisters are 17th century witches who were conjured up by unsuspecting pranksters in present-day Salem. The key to their immortality involves three children and a talking cat, who also turn out to be their biggest obstacles. Rated PG for some scary sequences, and for language.
Upon turning 13, Marnie learns that she is a witch. With advice from her grandmother Aggie, Marnie finds herself swept into a world known as Halloweentown. Marnie feels at home in this place filled with sorcery, witches, and ghosts, until some evil warlocks and other conniving characters start giving her trouble. This film is not rated, but was made the Disney Channel. Steven Spielberg produced this feature starring the friendly ghost created in 1940 by Joe Orolio. A greedy heiress inherits the haunted Whipstaff Manor and discovers that the house contains a treasure, which is guarded by three nasty ghosts. Ghost therapist Dr. James Harvey, and his daughter Kat, move into the mansion to get rid of the supernatural creatures. Kat makes friends with a ghost named Casper, the nephew of the 3 nasty ghosts. Rated PG for mild language, thematic elements. Mickey Mouse must do battle with Disney's entire pantheon of villains in this feature length adventure. The nefarious Jafar has teamed up with Cruella, Hades, Ursula, Captain Hook, and Maleficent to take over the House of Mouse and turn it into the House of Villains. With help from Minnie, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy, Mickey must stop these malevolent malcontents. Not Rated. Taran, a young boy who dreams of a future as an invincible warrior, finds himself leading a real-life quest. In a race against the evil Horned King, Taran must be the first to find the mysterious Black Cauldron or the Horned King will unleash its power and take over the world. The DVD also contains a cute Halloween Donald Duck short. Although it's Disney animation, this film contains some scenes that may be very frightening to young children. Rated PG for some scary images.
